Cancer Research is Saving Lives

Dave experienced swelling in his lymph nodes due to an upper respiratory infection and went to the doctor. Three days later, Dave received a call from his doctor with the diagnosis.
Since his diagnosis, Dave has felt compelled to share his story in hopes of raising awareness of the importance of cancer research and early detection. In total, Dave will have six rounds of chemotherapy, every 21 days.

A Message from Dave:
I went to my first V Foundation charity event in the mid-1990’s. There I was in Raleigh, North Carolina, playing in a golf tournament. For two days, I watched in awe as an army of incredible people wearing V Foundation tee shirts were all working together to raise money for cancer research.
Little did I know that one day I would be asked to be an ambassador for this amazing organization. In October of 2024, I was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma and my personal journey with cancer began. When I received my diagnosis, I said to my wife, Melissa: “I think I can turn this in to a positive and help people.”
So, my goal as a V Foundation ambassador is to encourage others to get early screenings like mammograms, prostate exams and colonoscopies, and check in with your doctors for advice about preventive health care. I’ve even begun developing a line of holistic and wellness products called AWEAR.
Being an ambassador for the V Foundation is such an honor and a privilege. And as we fight for a cure for cancer, we remember those inspirational words from Coach Valvano: “Don’t give up... Don’t ever give up.” Together, we can beat cancer!
